Energywise™ Programme

The Energywise™ Warm Up New Zealand: Heat Smart programme is a government initiative aimed at improving the energy efficiency of NZ homes. It provides funding to help homeowners and landlords upgrade the insulation in homes built before 2000. You could be eligible to receive funding to help insulate your home with GreenStuf® Home Insulation, and install a clean and efficient heating device.

Who is eligible?

  • Funding is available for all houses built prior to 1st of January 2000.
  • Applications for funding must be made by the home owner.
  • Funding is not avalable for Housing NZ homes.
  • Funding is limited so be in quick so you don't miss out.

What's on Offer?

If your house was built before 2000 you are eligible for Energywise™ funding to install insulation and/or heating. Insulation and efficient heating can help make your home warmer, cosier and easier to heat saving you money.

You can get up to $1,300 towards the cost of GreenStuf® ceiling and underfloor insulation.

Once you're fully insulated, you can get a further $500 towards the cost of installing a clean efficient heater (e.g. heat pump, wood burner) in your main living area.

There are also options to install:

  • Draught-proofing of doors
  • GreenStuf® Insulation Wrap for your hot water cylinder and hot water pipes
  • Ground vapour barrier for under your home

What are the steps involved?

  1. Visit www.bunnings.co.nz and complete the Application Form or call 0800 86 86 33.
  2. You will be called to arrange a free insulation appraisal by Hire a Hubby.
  3. Hire a Hubby will provide you with a full quote including:
    • Government funding available to you (Energywise™)
    • GreenStuf® Home Insulation Package
    • Energy Star® qualified heat pump
  4. You make your payment, less the Government subsidy.
  5. You will be contacted to arrange a time to install your GreenStuf® insulation.
  6. Sit back and enjoy a warmer, healthier and more energy-efficient home.
